1. Tools Required to Replace a Car Tyre

  • To lift the vehicle high enough to remove the flat tyre there is a need for Jack.
  • To tighten or loosen the wheel nuts there is a requirement of Wheel spanner/ Lug wrench.
  • If your jack requires one for operation then jack handle is required.
  • There is a need for a spare and extra tyre which is in good condition and inflated properly with air.
  • Manual for instructions that can help car owners with the car. It helps in keeping you informed about where jack has to be placed, the nut size of your wheel, and what type of tyre your car has. It provides you with a proper guide so that you don’t make any mistake while changing the tyre.

2. Extra Items that you might need

  • To stabilise the jack on the ground which is uneven a flat wood board with measurement of around 2×6 inches can help a lot.

How to Change a Car Tyre: Step-by-Step Guide

It might seem tough when it comes to changing of the flat tyre, but it becomes a simple task once you know the process to replace the punctured tyre:

  • Safe Spot: As soon as a flat tyre comes into your notice, lower down the speed and pull over to the safe side of the road.Make sure to turn on the to hazard lights to  alert other vehicles passing by.
  • Handbrake and Wheel Wedges: Pull up the handbrake so the car stays still and doesn’t roll or move while you are changing the flat tyre. Put a wheel wedged into bricks, or any stone behind the tyres that are not flat and can act as a barrier. This helps in keeping the car safe and steady.
  • Wheel Cover: if there is any wheel cover or hubcap, remove it before losing the nuts.
  • Lug Nuts: To loosen the nuts lug wrench is used. Do not remove it, just loosen it a bit so that it gets easier for you to remove it later.
  • Position the jack and lift the car: It is important to place the jack under the correct hack point and the car needs to be lifted up until the tyre is slushily off the ground. To get more stability a wooden board under the jack can be very helpful.
  • Removal: Pull the flat tyre off the wheel frame after unscrewing the nuts completely.
  • Spare tyre: Bolts and spare tyre needs to be properly aligned into place.
  • Lower the car: After finishing the above mentioned process lower the car slowly, remove jack, and tighten the nuts in criss cross pattern. Replace the wheel cover if needed.
  • Check tyre pressure: After following the above mentioned steps check the air pressure of the spare tyre and pack all the tools properly before driving away.
