How Uttar Pradesh’s New System Will Auto Detect And Fine Traffic Violations

Automation e Detection system is to get introduced by the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department to tighten traffic enforcement using technology. Under the framework of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways are developed, the system will easily identify vehicles running without valid documents and issue e challan without any human involvement.

Dayashankar Singh, the Transport Minster confirmed that the rollout aims to make enforcement quicker, more transparent, and less dependent on manual checks. Road safety is expected to get improved with the help of road safety and ensure better compliance and it will lead to better safety across busy national highways here violation often go unnoticed.

Pilot Rollout To Begin At Key Toll Plazas

 

At two toll location, Itaunja Toll Plaza and Barabanki Ahmedpur Toll Plaza the first phase of the project will begin as a pilot. NIC Lucknow has been directed by the transport department to initiate the system at these points before expanding it across the state in a phased manner.

 

High resolution camera has been set up by e-Detection to scan vehicle number plates along with FASTag data in real time. This helps by checking this information record and the validity of the documents like VAHAN to see if your documents like insurance, pollution certificates, fitness certificates, permits, and registration details.

 

If any kind of discrepancy is found, the system very easily and automatically generates an e challan and sends it directly to the registered mobile number of the vehicle owner, removing the need for on ground intervention.

What The System Will Check And Why It Matters

 

The system initially will focus more on transport vehicles, verifying documents like fitness certificates, insurance PUCC, and High Security Registration Plates. Registration validity, pollution compliance, insurance and HSRP status will be included for private vehicles.

 

Uniform action against violators and less human discretion is expected to be achieved with this automated approach according to officials. With the help this system it will quit easy to curb the number of uninsured and unfit vehicles on roads, while improving pollution control.

 

In states like Odisha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, along with the Delhi NCR region  the similar system has already being used or tested. Further monitoring and enforcement capabilities will be strengthened with the help of integration of data through national APIs, according to authorities.

 

Government is taking a step forward towards a smarter governance, the minster urged vehicles owner to update their documents updates if outdated to avoid penalties once the system goes live.
