Action against traffic violations have been intensified by the authorities in Gurugram. Its main focus is to crackdown on riders not wearing helmets. In Gurugram, two wheeler rider during a month long enforcement drive, were penalised 19,603 by Traffic Police in March 2026, collecting fines worth Rs 1.96 crore.
The main aim of the campaign is to improve road safety in the city where motorcycle and scooter remain a primary mode of transport. According to the officials, one of the leading cause of the serious injuries in road accidents is helmet violations. Under the leadership of Prateek Gehlot, who is the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), authorities have made it very clear that these strict enforcement will continue in the coming months.

Focus On Safety And Awareness Beyond Fines
Major role has been played by the enforcement, the main goal according to the officials is to not to just issue challans but to change the behaviours of the riders. The most basic and effective safety measures for two wheeler riders is helmet, especially in urban areas where there is high speed traffic.
Awareness campaigns has been carried out by the traffic leads to support this across key public areas such as metro stations, offices, schools, and major intersections. These efforts aim is to encourage long term compliance and make road safety a daily habits among the commuters.
Stricter Rules And Continued Crackdown Ahead
Other traffic rules has also been reminded to citizens alongside helmet enforcement by the authorities. These rules include avoiding triple riding, which also includes not allowing minors to drive, driving in the correct lane, and strictly avoiding drunk driving.
One can face serious consequences if safety norms are ignored, along with penalties. The department has confirmed that similar drives will continue, signalling a sustained push to improve discipline and reduce road accidents across the city.
