Maruti Suzuki Opens India's Largest Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing Plant

 

A major milestone has been achieved by Maruti Suzuki by starting their commercial production at Plant D, as the Hansalpur Facility in Gujarat, which is its fourth manufacturing unit. Hanslpur has turned into India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturing facility at a single due to its expansion.

 

Every year, the newly operational plant can produce 2.5 lakh vehicle. This increases to total capacity of the Hansalpur facility to 10 lakh which is 1 million vehicle per year from 7.5 lakh. It is the first time in global history of Suzuki that a single manufacturing facility has reached yearly production capacity of one million vehicle.

 

New Plant Boosts Maruti Suzuki’s Manufacturing Capacity

 

The total manufacturing capacity of Suzuki has increased across India, which is apart from addition to Plant D. Now the total of it makes to 2.9 million vehicles every year.

 

Nearly investment of Rs 25,288.7 crore has been invested by the company in development of Hansalpur facility. Leaving this, around Rs 3,900 crore has been invested in the launch of Plant D.

 

The company’s domestic and export growth are expected to get supported by the expansion, while strengthening its manufacturing network in India.

e Vitara to Roll Out From the New Facility

 

The plan is to manufacture the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the company’s flagship electric SUV from this new plant.

 

Other popular models such as Baleno, Swift, and Fronx are to be produced by the Hansalpur Facility along with the e Vitara. Now, this plant has become one of the biggest export hub of Maruti Suzuki, which contributes nearly 47% of the company’s total vehicle export during FY 2025-26

 

Focus on Sustainable Transportation

 

The focus of Maruti Suzuki is also on focusing on greener logistic. In 2024, India’s first in plant railways siding for automobile transportation has been introduced by the company at the Hansalpur facility under PMs GatiShakti programme.

 

Through the railways network, more than 7.5 vehicle has been transported since March 2023. Such type of initiative has helped in reducing road traffic, along with lowering of fuel consumption, and cuts in carbon emissions.

 

The Gujarat railway project in February 2026, also became the world’s first model shift transportation project that received registration under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VSC).

Maruti Suzuki Continues CSR Activities Around Hansalpur

 

Maruti Suzuki also continues to invest in local communities through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives (CSR), along Wirth the expansion in its manufacturing operations.

 

Along with that the company established a CBSE English medium school in Sitapur, Gujarat which is partnership with Polar Education Network. More than 800 students get educated form nearby villages.

 

The launch of Plant D has marked a major step in Maruti Suzuki’s growth journey. The company has strengthened its production capabilities by making the Hansalpur facility, while supporting electric vehicle manufacturing, exports and sustainable transportation.
