What our automobile expert has to say bout this car?

Feature rich cabin with large touchscreen infotainment system is expected to be offered in the upcoming SUV, along with a digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone connectivity, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats for the comfort, wireless charging, premium upholstery, and high quality sound system.

The Sorento Hybrid, on the safety front is expected to get include with multiple airbags, a 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and autonomous emergency braking.

When Akshay spent a day behind the wheel of the new Kia Sorento around Delhi, his first impression was simple, this is a genuinely large, confident looking SUV that does not try too hard to impress with flashy design tricks. Priced from Rs 27.99 lakh, it is clearly aimed at buyers stepping up from a Creta or Seltos who want something bigger without jumping into luxury territory.

The exterior has a clean, upright stance with a massive glass area, and while Akshay felt the raised roof rails were a slightly dated design choice, he noted the overall silhouette comes across as mature rather than flashy. Stepping inside, the cabin continues that theme, functional, well built, and finished with genuinely good materials on the upper dash and door panels, even if Akshay found some of the harder plastics lower down feel a touch old-school for a 2026 launch.

Where the Sorento genuinely impressed Akshay was in everyday drives in the city. The front seats offer plenty of room for larger frames, visibility is excellent thanks to a commanding seating position, and small practical touches, like the ‘ergo’ massage function for the driver’s seat and winged headrests in the second row, showed real attention to comfort on long drives. Testing the second row captain seats in the six seater configuration, Akshay, who stands at five feet eleven, found them comfortable, though he noticed under thigh support felt slightly compromised due to a lower seat position, especially in the hybrid variant. The third row, however, is strictly a short trip solution for kids or pets rather than a proper seating option for adults,  a common compromise in this segment, but one Akshay felt was worth flagging for anyone expecting true seven seat practicality.

On the move, the Sorento offers two capable powertrains, a turbo petrol hybrid and a diesel, both paired exclusively with automatic transmissions. The hybrid impressed Akshay with its near silent startup and seamless transitions between electric and combustion power, returning a respectable 13.7 kmpl during his mixed city highway test drive. The diesel, meanwhile, felt like the more engaging option between the two to him, with smooth power delivery and a dual clutch transmission that handled low speed crawling far better than most DCTs typically manage.

Ride quality strikes a sensible balance, firm enough to feel planted at speed, yet forgiving over rough patches. Akshay’s only real complaint on the driving front was the steering, which is light and easy to drive in the city but offers almost no feedback, making it less confidence-inspiring on winding ghat roads.

Overall, Akshay does not believe the Kia Sorento is the most thrilling SUV in its class, nor does it pretend to be a true full-size seven seater, but it does not need to be either. What it delivers instead, in his view, is a well rounded package, strong safety credentials across the lineup, a loaded base variant that does not force buyers to spend big for essential features, and two efficient powertrain choices suited to Indian driving conditions. For someone upgrading from a compact SUV who wants more space, more comfort, and a genuinely premium feeling cabin without stretching too far into luxury territory, Akshay believes the Sorento makes a compelling case. It may not be extraordinary in any single aspect, but as a complete, dependable package, he finds it hard to ignore.

Across India, Kia has already has already gained a lot of foot fall for this car, and now when Diwali is around people are looking onto buying a car like Kia Sorento.

What Real Owners Are Saying About their all new Kia Sorento

Most Sorento owners seem genuinely happy with their purchase. One long time owner praised Ashish Chhabra its comfort and reliability, calling it one of the best in the 6 7 seater segment, with smooth servicing to match. Another buyer, lady names Smriti was drawn in by features like smart cruise control even before the car launched in India, while a third owner Samay talked about its great road presence, styling which is all over designed newly, along with its strong performance.

But another thing that came into notice after interview by our experts was that not everyone’s experience has been flawless. One owner flagged named Tanmay Choudhary, higher than expected maintenance costs as a genuine drawback, even while admitting the mileage holds up decently against rivals. Overall, feedback points to a comfortable, reviewing it as a rounded SUV, just one where buyers should budget a bit more for upkeep down the line.
