A video has gone viral of Landour, Uttarakhand, which is has drawn attention towards the importance of hill assist while driving on mountain roads that are steep. In the clip Tata Nexon has shown struggling to climb uphill bend that is too sharp after being forced to stop midway. This highlights how challenging hill driving can be if not followed the right technique.

This video shows incident that took place on one Landour’s steep hairpin bends leading towards Lal Tibba. As shown in the video gone viral on social media shows how the driver climbing the hill when a scooter suddenly came on the way and crossed the road, which led SUV to take a stop in the middle of the incline. The videos show how the driver tried to move forward again, the vehicle struggled to gain the momentum and eventually has to take the help from bystanders to continue the climb.

Why Hill Hold Assist Matters

Every driver knows how difficult it is to start a vehicle on a steep slope, especially when driving manual or AMT car. There is high possibility for the vehicle to roll backwards when the driver moves their foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator if not handled in a careful manner.

This provided the driver enough time to press the accelerator, and to release the clutch smoothly and move the vehicle forward swiftly without rolling back down the slope.

How To Manage Without Hill Hold Assist

It is important to engage the handbrake first when the car stops on the slope. During these cases, traditional handbrake is used to prevent the vehicle to go backwards.

While gently pressing the accelerator after engaging the handbrake while the car is on the slope and shift the gear on first and slowly release the clutch. Once the vehicle move forward and maintain the momentum release the handbrake and continue to drive.
