A major move in India’ alternative fuel mobility space is set to be made by Hero MotoCorp as the company prepares to unveil its first ever flex fuel motorcycle on 3rd June. According to the reports, the launch event will be attended by honourable Union Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. This highlights the government’s growing focus on cleaner fuel technologies.
The new upcoming launch is set to be seen as an important step in India’s transition towards ethanol based mobility. Government has been seen very actively encouraging automakers to develop flex fuel compatible vehicles due to the rising concerns around the fuel imports and emissions. This for better future for Indian market.

What Is A Flex Fuel Motorcycle?
The motive of designing the flex fuel vehicle is to rum them on multiple blends of petrol and ethanol. It all depends upon the vehicles engine compatibility on what type fuel it can operate on like E20, E85, AND even E100. Mostly, vehicles in India support E20 fuel, but the long term goal is to switch towards higher ethanol blends.
It is expected that Hero motorcycle will support high ethanol fuel blends and could become one of the first mass market commuter bikes in India. The aim is to promote sustainable fuel alternatives.

Nitin Gadkari To Launch Hero MotoCorp’s First Flex Fuel Motorcycle
Reportedly, this new motorcycle may be based on Hero’s popular bikes like the Splendor or HF Deluxe. Earlier, flex fuel version of the HF Deluxe at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 was showcased by Hero MotoCorp, giving its audience a hint at the future plan of the company.
This decision made by the company to introduce a commuter focused flex fuel bike could help Hero reach a wider audience. This is especially for the rural and semi urban markets where affordability and fuel efficiency remains the key priorities.
Why Flex Fuel Vehicles Matter
To reduce dependence on crude oil imports and to lower carbon emissions the Indian government has been strongly promoting ethanol blended fuels. The production of Ethanol is done domestically by using agricultural products like sugarcane. This makes it a more sustainable alternative to conventional petrol.
The government’s plan also perfectly aligns with Nitin Gadkari to launch Hero MotoCorp’s initiative. The plan is to encourage flex fuel and grain mobility technologies across the industry of automative.
Current Flex Fuel Market In India
At this moment in present, in India the flex fuel vehicle segment remains limited. Currently Suzuki Motorcycle India is offering the Gixxer SF 250 flex fuel model, while Honda earlier introduced a flex fuel version of CB300F before discontinuing it.
Soon in India Maruti Suzuki is also expected to launch its first flex fuel car, likely based on the WagonR platform.
A strong momentum in the coming years can be seen with the flex fuel car, with Hero MotoCorp entering the segment.
